Mets made the most of an up-and-down road trip, now head home to Flushing with a little momentum
Despite leaving 62 runners on base over their seven-game road trip between Philadelphia and St. Louis, the Mets finished the stretch 4-3, sending them back to Queens at .500 and within arm's reach of first place in the National League East.
Sure, their ineffectiveness may have cost Chili Davis and Tom Slater their jobs, but that's baseball, baby.
Taijuan Walker's looked dominant (as has the rest of the Mets' rotation) the bullpen (most notably Trevor May and Jeurys Familia) has been a godsend, and the offense slowly but surely is beginning to click. Onward and upward.
